'Acting sustainably... Taking responsibility for the future and the people in our region'
This is how the Niersverband water authority views its responsibility as operator of the Mönchengladbach-Neuwerk sewage treatment plant. Until 2014 the accumulating excess sludge was thickened using three centrifuges and then treated anaerobically together with primary sludge. The decision was taken to replace a thickening centrifuge with a belt thickener. A tender process was therefore set in motion to source a high-performance but economical unit to achieve more efficient and cost-effective excess sludge thickening. Reduced energy cost, high separation efficiency and a significant reduction in service and maintenance costs were important criteria. Bellmer met the rating criteria optimally and as a result, a TurboDrain™ Green 3 C was chosen. The TurboDrain™ Green ensures low operating costs thanks to a design based on resource conservation. Josef Hermans, the water manager responsible for waste at the sewage treatment plant at Neuwerk, is very pleased with the results achieved, including savings in operational costs, as well as the trouble-free operation. "The plant with the TurboDrain™ runs to my complete satisfaction and meets all the operating data requirements," reported Hermans.
